The man everybody loves

The man everybody hates

I found him in his temple dead

I found Old Man Kane

He sure as hell ain’t smiling today

We held him high on our shoulders

Beat him low to the ground

He disappeared in his palace

Uttering words that made no sound

What did we do with Old Man Kane?

Look what we did to Old Man Kane

The man who had love to lose

The man who had nothing and all

I found him, he was rotten and palefaced

I found Old Man Kane

He sure as hell ain’t making promises today

We lined his pockets with silver

Lived our life through his eyes

He hid it well while living

Now there’s not a suit that can disguise

Whatever happened to Old Man Kane?

Look where he’s laying now, Old Man Kane

Someone once called him God

I’m fairly certain that someone was wrong

He’s just Old Man Kane

Dead and gone, Old Man Kane
