On the border, 1881
Right in the middle of town
Main street is about to erupt
A gun fight’s goin’ down
He stood 6 foot 4 inches tall
Former Confederate and Rogue
A Texas Ranger after the war
Then Marshal of ‘ol El Paso
Steely eyed reputation
And he was known to shoot first
Stoudenmire was his name
“Four Dead in Five” his fame
Story goes the Marshal was enjoying a meal
When from across the way
Voices were raised and a gunshot rang out
A man was sent to his grave
Stoudenmire broke into a run
And brought both pistols to bear
The murderers didn’t have time to think
He sent three of them to hell
He wasn’t a good man
Just had guts of steel
Lost in the pages of history
Is the Four Dead in Five
Don’t roll off like Ok Corral
But it’ll be always there
Four Dead in Five
